The Civil Air Patrol has an outstanding cadet program for members between the ages of 12 and 18. Cadets are trained in leadership skills, physical fitness, and aerospace education. A cadet's progression through the ranks begins as an Airman Basic and continues through the enlisted ranks and into cadet officer ranks, finally culminating at cadet Colonel and the coveted Spaatz award. Progress is guided by CAP regulations and includes CAP and USAF history, aerospace, and fitness. In addition to weekly meetings and exercises, many other opportunities exist for additional training in the cadet program. Those include, but are not limited to:

• Yearly Encampments

• Cadet Leadership School

• Glider Encampment

• Powered Flight Encampment

• International Air Cadet Exchange (IACE)
